Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) - Aurika

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Real-time computer-to-computer exchange of business documents between business partners. EDI eliminates the errors resulting from manual data exchange, reduces waiting times, increases processing speed, and reduces workload.

How does it work?

What is an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)?

Computer-to-computer exchange of documents between business partners takes place in a data interchange platform. Business partners agree on which business documents they want to exchange. These may be purchase orders, invoices, consignment notes, inventory reserves, etc. After having completed the required programming tasks and having begun a computer-to-computer document exchange, there is no longer a need to send them manually. The recipient receives the document in a specified location in real-time, i.e., immediately when it has been formed and submitted in the sender’s system.

Where does the value lie in Electronic Data Interchange?

It increases the satisfaction of purchase and supply teams and reduces their workloads since there is no longer a need for professionals to manually forward the documents to a vendor, as now they can dedicate more time to the tasks demanding their qualification. EDI:

increases data quality since the errors resulting from manual interchange are eliminated;

reduces waiting times since the documents are interchanged in real-time;

helps avoid an increase in personnel costs along with the growing scope of activities;

builds a more sustainable environment, reduces the use of paper products and reduces stationery expenses.
